Petaluma, CA | Engagement | Kat + Rob

This type of engagement session was a first for me.

I first met Kat and Rob during a free engagement session giveaway. Their story caught my eye because it’s not everyday you meet a national paintball champion. Rob and his team Grey Area took first place in the nation in 2020. That’s no easy task. I grew up playing paintball, so I was excited to connect with them.

Fun fact, Rob popped the question while on stage with the team during the championship announcement ceremony. The whole team knew it, but Kat had no idea.

My approach to engagement sessions is showcasing my couples’ passions, so naturally we decided to have their engagement session on a paintball field. Yes please!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived, but I knew we’d have fun. We shot live ammo (paint) and ran around sliding into bunkers. After some shenanigans, we slowed things down and took some more romantic photographs and the results just put a smile on my face.

Afterwards they changed into some classier attire that reminded me of the 1920s, like a modified Peaky Blinders type of engagement session. Again, yes please! We drove five minutes to a nearby abandoned factory in Petaluma and got to work. Needless to say it was hard to take a bad photo of these two lovebirds.

It’s engagement sessions like these that make me pause and give gratitude to the world. Being an engagement photographer is a fulfilling profession because it allows me to celebrate and showcase love stories, explore beautiful locations like Petaluma, push my creative brain, and capture genuine emotions that when people look back at their photographs they’re instantly brought back to that moment.

Thank you! If you want photography like this, please inquire to see if your date is available.
