Genna + Cameron's wedding at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort in Buena Vista
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Genna and Cameron for quite some time now. Genna and I go way back to the third grade at Eagle Ridge Elementary School in Highlands Ranch, CO. and our friendship carried into high school. Cam and Genna kicked it off just before college, and the rest is history.
Back then I had no idea I would be a photographer, much less photograph Genna’s wedding one day, but the universe has a unique way of surprising us, and voila, lone behold I was tasked with the honor of capturing their big day.
Genna and Cam’s celebration at Mount Princeton Hot Springs was one for the books. Being in June, Colorado’s weather is always a gamble, but it paid off with bright sun, scattered clouds, and subtle breezes. When we arrived, the energy of excitement and anticipation filled the mountain air as we began the day shooting in the cabins for the getting ready portion of the day.
Things started getting real once we knocked out the first-touch. Genna and Cam wanted to wait until the ceremony to see each other, but loved the idea of a first-touch where they could share an intimate moment between one another and no one else.
The energy builds up as Genna’s dad and her meet on a bridge to and walk towards the aisle where Cameron is patiently waiting with a giant grin on his face. It’s go time.
The ceremony was beautiful in every way- Full of laughs, cries, love, promises, and a huge sloppy kiss at the end. It was perfect. Photographing ceremonies can be challenging at times, but with the right people involved shooting them becomes something incredibly rewarding. This is the moment were two become one and we as photographers get to see this unification form right before our eyes time and time again. I love it!
After some family photos, wedding party silliness, and gorgeous portraits of the newly weds, we set sail for a fun-filled reception where the celebration transformed into an epic party. The food was amazing, the speeches were hilarious, and the music was bumping something fierce.
I also had the chance to run into more high school friends throughout the night where we reconnected and caught up on our life’s journey. For some, it had been 14 years since we’ve seen each other, further reminding me on how fast time flies.
Crazy how life goes…
Enjoy the party, everyone!
